Feb.1,2011

Well, we got a surprise yesterday at the cancer center. Had my radiation treatment & saw Dr. Grass. Everything is going about as expected. My "sunburn" will continue to get worse for awhile but 4 weeks after last treatment should be back to normal. Got RX for new cream that is expensive but helps -- however pharmacy had to order and it is supposed to be in today.
Then I had my blood drawn to recheck magnesium. First they couldn't get any blood so called for expert Linda - she worked with my port and got the blood but decided to leave needle in in case I had to have IV. Ange & I went to waiting area. After about 10 minutes here comes LInda - somehow they had thrown my blood away and had to get more! I joked with her which she appreciated because her day wasn't going well. Then we had to wait for test results. Then we had to wait for Dr. Budde to see them to decide what to do- which of course was that I ended up getting 2 grams of magnesium by IV and we didn't get home until about 3. So I upped dosage from 400 to 800 mg. a day and hope that does the trick. Will have it checked the 16th again.
I am glad they are on top of things.
Today we were iced in so canceled radiation treatment. Jack is out now trying to de-ice the van. Doesn't sound like tomorrow will be much better. I don't want to fall and add broken bones to my list of ailments! Anyway - only 6 left!
Alyson started student teaching this week in Williamstown, WV. First week is observation but would appreciate your prayers for her to adjust to
1. new living place
2. new person she is living with
3. No Angela
4. teaching and meeting new people
Someone asked me how I was feeling and I said tired and like I have a sunburn. They said "Well, you look normal - like your old self!" I took that as acompliment and a good sign. The clerk at the grocery store told me how pretty my "hair" looked so of course I had to tell her it was a wig and she said you would never know it. Someone that doesn't have to tell you and gives you a compliment - that made me feel even better!
Thanks again for all your prayers! Oh yes, for those of you that don't know - Jack and I are supposed to be grandparents in September. Bonnie is not feeling so well right now so we would apprectiate your prayers for them. Adam and Jack are ecstatic. Like father like son!Love and a hug for all, Karen
