May 30th

Better today. Slept all night with only 1 pain pill at 10 p.m. Appetite has returned; I don't know if that's good or bad! Adam and Bonnie left this afternoon, but Alyson and Angela are here until tomorrow. Thanks for all the prayers, cards, and good thoughts!

May 28th

Hello, it's Megan again. Mom has to stay in the hospital tonight; hopefully this will be the last night. She is having some pain but is up and moving around some. She is having trouble sleeping and doesn't have much of an appetite, but she is doing her best to drink plenty and eat what she can. Looking forward to getting her home and making her more comfortable. Thanks for all of your support!

surgery update

Hey everybody, it's Megan with the update. Mom went into surgery around 3:15 this afternoon and came out at about 7. It lasted a bit longer than expected, but everything went well. She is settled into her room and seems to be doing well. She is talking and even gave us a thumbs up sign! Not sure how long she will be in the hospital; hopefully she will be able to come home tomorrow or Saturday. Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes!

May 26th

Well, good news and bad news. Dr. S. doesn't think
there is any infection but he cannot do the surgery
laprascopically (sp.) so I will be in the hospital a couple
days. Also regular surgery takes less time so I won't
be in surgery as long as I would have!

Think of me and say a little prayer about
12:30 and 4:00 p.m. Thanks to all!

May 25 p.m.

Back from tests.
Surgery scheduled for 12:45 Thursday. I am not sure if that's when
surgery is or when I have to be there. They seem to think I will get
to go home yet that day so that's what I will be praying for!

Cancer center called and scheduled first round of chemo for
Friday, June 4th at 9:15 if I am recovered enough from
surgery.

It certainly is tiring to be sick! But you meet a lot of nice people!

May 25 a.m.

Hospital called this a.m. Have a couple more tests scheduled today.
They are going to test my infection for mersa for one thing. Let's pray that it is not.
They have also scheduled "procedure" for Thursday so if all the tests go okay
guess I'll be in surgery Thursday. Pray for quick recovery.
Also Dr. Buddy called yesterday afternoon - decided if I have hernia repair
I will not be ready for chemo on Friday and will shoot for Thursday, June 3rd as
first day.More when I have news.

May 24 update

My cancer is breast cancer, it is ductal and it is invasive. It is palpable (it is not attached to the chest wall- this is a good thing!)
Dr. Buddy wants to do chemotherapy to try and shrink it before surgery.

The chemo involves 2 kinds given every 2 weeks for 8 weeks and then
a third kind for 12 weeks.
She wants a port put in because of the strength and it's easier.
So here's the plan for the week if Dr. Buddy gets her way.

May 25 - tests at hospital to make sure heart okay.

May 26 - meet with Dr. Schirmer (Dr. Buddy is hoping he can repair hernia when he puts port in.)

May 27th - hopefully port and hernia surgery.

May 28th - begin first chemo treatment.

These may change if Dr. Schirmer cannot get me scheduled for surgery this week. Then we would move everything to next week or if there are problems with tests. I will try and keep you updated.

Oh - side effects of the chemos I will be receiving -
1. I will lose my hair
2. Nausea - Dr. Buddy gave me 4 or 5 prescriptions to fill
3. Fatigue

That's it for now. We're doing pretty well at this point just trying to digest all the info!

May 24, 2010

I decided to do a blog because I have so many people praying for me and I want to keep you
all updated so you know what best to pray. Thank you all so much for the cards, letter, hugs and prayers. I appreciate you all more than you will ever know.

Oncologist appointment 10:30 a.m. Angel said this appointment will take at least 2 hours so will try and have any updates posted tonight.
